HOBOKEN — City council members unanimously approved a City Election Ordinance for qualifying dates and qualifying fees during a short council meeting the first day of July.
“These qualifying fees and qualifying dates are all in the ordinance,” said Mayor Joey Crews to the council members. “So, August will be the qualifying time for anybody that’s going to be running. The election won’t be until November.”
Qualifying for the seven seats (mayor, six council) comprising the Hoboken City Council for the Tuesday, November 4 General Election is scheduled to begin Monday, August 18 at 8:30 a.m. and run through Thursday, August 21 at 4 p.m.
The fee is $171 for the mayor’s post and $63 for a council post.
Early voting will be held at Hoboken City Hall and at the Hoboken Community Center on Election Day.
According to the Office of the Secretary of State Elections Division website, each candidate for municipal office or a designee shall file a notice of candidacy in the office of the municipal superintendent of such candidate’s municipality during the municipality’s qualifying period. The qualifying period shall be no less than three consecutive days and no more than five consecutive days.
• The deadline for voter registration/change of address is Monday, October 6, 2025.
• The first day absentee ballots can be issued is Tuesday, October 14, 2025.
• The first day for early voting is also Tuesday, October 14.
• The last day to accept absentee applications for the November 4 General Election is Friday, October 24.
• A mandatory Saturday voting is scheduled for October 25, 2025.
• The last day of early voting is Friday, October 31, 2025.
• Election Day is Tuesday, November 4 with polls open from 7 a.m.-7 p.m.
