Former chairman voices Bennett Road concerns

NAHUNTA — Former Brantley County Commission Chairman addressed concerns along Bennett Road during Thursday night’s monthly meeting of the commission.

Summerlin, who lives at 797 Bennett Road in the western portion of the county, spoke during the July 3 meeting about the condition the road is currently in. He told of holes along the road and of an S curve which makes things hard to see.

The former chairman said the holes need patching up. He also talked about the conditions of the area.

“It’s a junkyard and the neighborhood doesn’t like it,” Summerlin said.

Summerlin also stated Fred’s RV was responsible for grandfathering the patchwork in and they have not fulfilled their requirements.

The commissioners responded by saying that they will be looking into the matter and see what measures can be taken.

The next Brantley County Commission work session will be held Tuesday, August 5 at 6 p.m. The next regular meeting is scheduled for Thursday, August 7 at 6 p.m.
