NAHUNTA — Mary Ann Bullard Smithie, 73 of Nahunta, passed away Monday evening, June 30, 2025, at her residence after an extended illness.

Mrs. Smithie was born in Adel to the late Leon Jackson and Zella Mae Hanc ock Bullard. She lived in Manor for many years before moving to Nahunta in 2010. Mrs. Smithie loved to cook, read the bible, and was a mother to many.

Along with her parents, she was preceded in death her husband, Charlie Mitchell “John” Smithie, Sr.; son, Charlie Mitchell Smithie, Jr.; four sisters, Ruby Nell Ansley, Inez Hurst, Betty Rose Hurst, and Sandra Passmore; one brother, Leon Bullard.

Survivors include one daughter and son-in-law, Rebecca and Curt Edwards of Nahunta; one son, James Wilton Yeomans of Brantley County; seven grandchildren, Jessica Rozier (Eric), Chrissy Yeomans (Jerry Petro), Amanda Martin (Wrangler), Devin Yeomans, Jonathan Mackerer, Brittney Mackerer (Chas Darley) and Charlie Michael Smithie (Layla Quinn) all of Brantley County; five great-grandchildren; one brother and sister-in-law, Wilson and Penny Bullard of Augusta; two sisters, Glenda Peters of Brunswick and Reba Peterson of Madison, Fla.; several nieces, nephews, and other relatives.

A graveside service was held Thursday afternoon, July 3, 2025 at New Prospect Cemetery in Manor with Rev. W.G. Smith officiating.
