Preston joins elections board

Special to the WJH The Ware County Commission has named Andy Preston to the Ware County Board of Elections and Registration.

Preston replaces Dr. Rodney Brown, whose term expired earlier this year. Brown served four years on the board.

Preston, who’s retired, was appointed by the commission at its May 12 meeting. He took the Oath of Office last week at the Ware County Courthouse from Ware County Clerk of Superior Court Samantha Bennett “I’m honored to serve the citizens of Ware County in this capacity,” Preston said after being sworn in. “Fair and transparent elections are the cornerstone of our democracy, and I look forward to supporting the team that ensures every legal vote is counted.”

Danny Bartlett, Chair-man of the Board of Elections welcomed Preston, saying “Andy brings a fresh perspective and deep commitment to public service. We look forward to working alongside him as we continue our mission of administering elections with integrity, accuracy, and accessibility.”

The other members of the board are Vernon Chambless, Marian Solomon-Gaines, and Ludeane Whitfield.

The board oversees all aspects of the electoral process in the county, including voter registration, election preparation and administration, and poll worker training.
