Fireworks light up the night sky over the main lodge at Mossy Pond this past weekend during the annual Freedom Fest. The second annual event was hailed as a success. Large crowds turned out over the two days for concerts by headliners Confederate Railroad Friday night and Lonestar Saturday night, along with a slate of local singers and performers. Additionally, there were plenty of vendors and fun and games for the kids featured throughout the event. Accounting was still underway at press time, but a portion of the proceeds from the festival will be donated to Pierce County Rec Department. The proceeds will be used to support improved facilities, upgraded equipment and expand opportunities for the area’s future athletes Photo courtesy Eduardo Zavala, Special to The Times.
