Georgia College and State University Three Pierce County residents were among the 1,500 students graduating from Georgia College and State University in Milledgeville during its recent spring 2025 commencement.
Jenna Bennett, of Blackshear, earned a Bachelor of Science degree and Alejandro Pittman, also of Blackshear, earned a Master of Arts in Teaching degree.
Evan Minter, of Patterson, earned a Master of Arts in Teaching degree.
University of Alabama
Two Pierce County students were recognized for academic honors during spring semester 2025 at the University of Alabama in Tuscaloosa.
Julia Green of Blackshear was named to the deans list.
Hannia Martinez Torres of Patterson was named to the presidents list.
Those named to the dean's list have an academic record of 3.5 (or above). Those named to the president's list have an academic record of 4.0 (all A's).
Mercer University
Three Blackshear residents recently graduated from Mercer University during the May commencement ceremonies at the Atlanta and Macon campuses.
Chyna Carter, School of Law, Juris Doctor. Emma Kicklighter, College of Liberal Arts and Sciences, Bachelor of Arts Kimberley Spivey, School of Business, Master of Business Administration.
Several Pierce County students also received academic honors recognition at Mercer University. Those recognized include : Addison Cantrell, junior, School of Business, and Emma Kicklighter, senior, College of Liberal Arts and Sciences, both on the Dean’s List and of Blackshear.
