Rotary learns about new emergency preparedness partnerships in Pierce

Pierce County Family Connection Director Stephanie Bell gave an update on the community’s hurricane season prep at last week’s Rotary Club Meeting. Family Connection has been coordinating collaborative efforts with community partners to provide support for emergency services in the event of another hurricane like Helene. The group will soon launch a website – pierceisprepared.com – that will feature emergency contact info, preparedness checklists and other valuable information for citizens. They are currently gathering supplies to pack 400 72-hour emergency kits that will be distributed for free at a community event, most likely in August. Family Connection is accepting donations toward that project. Bell reported all firehouses in Pierce County will become activation sites for information and resources in the event of another storm.
