• Gather non-perishable food items and water (one gallon per person per day) for three days minimum. Don’t forget to get a manual can opener.
• Gather flashlights, battery-powered lanterns, candles, matches and lighters.
• Fill up your gas tanks and gas cans including your generator. Don’t forget to give it a double check and review safety procedures before use.
• Make sure you have some cash on hand. (ATM's and credit cards will not work in a power outage.)
• Secure your outdoor items and bring in your trash can.
• Trim limbs that are a danger to your home.
• Gather all of your personal paperwork in a waterproof container. This included copies of birth certificates, insurance information, identification, etc.
• Bring pets in, secure livestock, chickens, etc. in a safe space.
•Fill your bathtubs with water to flush toilets and for other non-potable activities.
