Letters to the Editor

Thank you to Ware County Commission “Keep up the good work”

Editor, The Times, I would like to extend my sincere gratitude to the Ware County Commission for their recent passage of a resolution aimed at protecting private property rights and the individual liberties of our citizens from potential overreach by international organizations, including the United Nations and its affiliated entities such as UNESCO.

In an era where local control and sovereignty can often be overshadowed by global initiatives, it is encouraging to see our elected officials take a principled stand to uphold the constitutional rights of the people they serve. The resolution sends a clear message that the values of our community—such as personal freedom, private land ownership, and the right to self-governance— are not for sale and will not be compromised.

By taking this proactive measure, the Commission has affirmed that decisions affecting our land, resources, and way of life should remain in the hands of local citizens, not international bureaucracies. Their leadership sets an example for other counties and communities across the country that are looking to preserve American principles at the local level.

Thank you again to the Ware County Commission for demonstrating courage and commitment to the people of Ware County.

Sincerely,

Drew Jones, Charlton County Commissioner Editor, The Times, My Mom bought me a subscription to The Times in 1960 when I left Blackshear to attend the University of Georgia. I have gotten your paper most of the time since then. You are aware of the problems I have had with the mail and you are aware that I probably have not received more than 50 percent of those papers. I also cannot read the newspaper via email. You now appear to be posting obits in bunches and not as they happen. You also dropped the court report and for a while you stopped running the old front page of the paper feature. Further, in my opinion, your editorial page is a joke.

I am 82 years old so I won’t be your customer for much longer. I think you won’t need to worry about me now.

I was thinking you might have people write an article that reflects the history of Pierce County. I am sending a list of 10 people and then I think your readers will give you many more: Franklin Pierce, Leo Allen, John Schriber, Dr. Don Waters, Steve Nimmer, Mack Thompson, Charlie Waters, Bill Fleming, Marvin Powers and R.D. Thomas.

Thank you for listening, but your paper needs something different.

Lanny Aldridge Bremen Editor, The Times: Thank you for taking the time to feature the story Marc Treadwell remembers father who never returned about my dad, Major Leon Treadwell, in the May 28 edition of The Times.

Keep up the good work. I guess that I have been a subscriber for nearly 50 years and I plan to be for another 50 years or as close to that as I can get.

The Honorable Judge Marc Treadwell Forsyth

“Thank you for listening, but your paper needs something different”
