Peterson to hold football camp
Former Georgia Southern Eagle and Chicago Bears football player Adrian Peterson will host a training camp for Pierce County youngsters Thursday, June 26, at Tiger Field in Blackshear. The event is free and will be held from 5:30-7 p.m.
The program is open to students fourth-eighth grade. Peterson will lead the participants in his Pray, Perform, Persist Program which will offer strength, conditioning, speed and agility training. For more information or to register, call the recreation department at (912) 449-7791.
NFL player to conduct training camp
Former NFL defensive tackle Hollis Thomas Jr. will host a training camp for Pierce County youngsters July 14 and 15.
The event will take place from 9 a.m.-noon p.m. July 14-15 at Tiger Field.
The event is sponsored by Charlissa Culp and Associates and the Pierce County Recreation Department.
The program is free and is open to boys and girls ages 6-17 and will provide skills training, drills, mentorship and motivation.

Thomas played in the NFL for 13 seasons. In addition to the Eagles, Thomas also played for the New Orleans Saints and Carolina Panthers.
A native of Abilene, TX, he played college football at Northern Illinois.
