Elizabeth Griner recently won the first place title in the FFA Forest Management and Products division at the Georgia State FFA Convention in Macon. Griner advanced to the state competition after first winning her region contest where she competed against FFA members from the northern and central parts of the state. Griner’s project branches from the Griners’ family-owned business, Diamond G Forest Products, which is a major producer of turpentine and derivatives of the product. Turpentine was once a major commodity produced in Pierce County and the Griner family has been instrumental in reawakening the industry once again. Griner will now move on to compete this Fall against other FFA members from across the United States during the National FFA Convention to be held in Indianapolis, Indiana from October 29-November 1. Griner is the daughter of Chip and Julie Griner and is a member of the Pierce County High School FFA chapter.
