NAHUNTA — A Jesup woman was injured early Friday morning when the sport utility vehicle she was driving ran off Ga. 23 and ended up on its roof in a ditch, the Georgia State Patrol said.

Kylie Hamilton, 22, of Jesup, refused medical treatment by emergency personnel at the scene of the 1:28 a.m., accident June 13, but was taken to Wayne Memorial Hospital by private vehicle, the Georgia State Patrol accident report said.

According to the report, Hamilton was traveling north on Ga. 23 in Brantley County at a high rate of speed in a 2021 Mitsubishi Outlander Sport when she ran off the right side of the roadway onto the east shoulder. The vehicle traveled 327 feet before re-entering the roadway traveling across both north and southbound lanes.

The SUV went 158 feet before traveling onto the west shoulder where it continued for 198 feet before entering a ditch and overturning. The vehicle came to rest on its roof, partially submerged in water in the ditch.
