NAHUNTA — Mrs. Christine Martin Dukes, 96, died Friday, June 13, 2025 at Bayview Nursing Home in Nahunta.
Mrs. Dukes was born August 19, 1928 in Waycross to the late Roosevelt and Gertrude Martin. She retired as a dental hygienist with Dr. B.C. Dorminey.
Mrs. Dukes was a member of the River of Life Church of God where she served as a Sunday School teacher. She was devoted to her faith and family, and serving the Lord.
Mrs. Dukes also enjoyed gardening, cooking, sewing, reading and spending time with the residents and staff of Bayview Nursing Home.
In addition to her father, Mrs. Dukes was preceded in death by her husband, John W.M. Dukes; her son, John Wayne Dukes; and brother, Roosevelt “Junior” Martin.
Survivors include two sons, Gerald Dukes (Carol) of Demorest, Ga., and Roger Dukes (Cheryl) of Fernandina, Fla.; grandchildren, Christi Dukes of Simpsonville, S.C., Tyler Dukes (Katie) of Raleigh, N.C., and John Dukes; great grandson, Ethan Williamson; and several nieces and nephews.
A graveside service was held Monday, June 16, 2025 at Greenlawn Cemetery.

Peggy Ann Crews
WAYCROSS — Mrs. Peggy Ann Crews, 88, passed away Saturday, June 14, 2025 at her residence in Waycross following a short illness.
Mrs. Crews was born in Ware County to the late Clinton Lamar Clark and Nellie Jewell Cleland Clark. She was a certified nursing assistant for over 30 years and employed at Ware Manor Nursing Home and the Tebeau House for many years.
In addition to her parents, Mrs. Crews was also preceded in death by her husband, Billy Ray Crews, Sr.; her son, Billy Crews, Jr.; and a brother, C.L. Clark.
She is survived by her two daughters, Cheryl Lynn Crews and Lisa Cox both of Waycross; two grandchildren, Michael Crews (Jennifer) of Waycross and Valarie Sandiford (Joshua) of Waycross; four great grandchildren, Michael Ray Crews, Paisley Lynn Crews, Wyatt Lando Crews, and Olivia Sandiford; and numerous nieces and nephews.
A funeral service will be held today (Wednesday, June 18, 2025) at 2 p.m., at the Music Funeral Home Chapel.
Burial will follow in Hoboken City Cemetery. The family will begin receiving friends at the funeral home Wednesday at 1 p.m.
