HORTENSE – Marcia “Cheryl” Rooks Lewis, 60 of Hortense, passed away Thursday evening, June 12, 2025 at Hospice of the Golden Isles in Brunswick after an extended illness.
Born in Brunswick, her parents were Joseph Rooks and Martha Dailey Rooks. Mrs. Lewis was also preceded in death by her daughter, Crystal Michelle Lewis; and two nephews, Dkota Rook and Cody Palmer.
Mrs. Lewis was a store manager for Friendly Express and attended the Ivory Palace and Trinity Church of the Nazarene. She loved taking care of her grandchildren, swimming and going to thrift shops.
Survivors include two sons, James Lewis of Waycross and Eli Bagley (Naomi) of Hoboken; a daughter, Harmoni Wentworth (Jordan) of Waynesville; two grandchildren and two on the way, Evan Lewis and Cason Bagley; fiancé, Ronnie Myers of Hortense; brother, Darryl Rooks of Waynesville; two sisters, Donna Dowler (John) of Hoboken and Jenny McElroy; and also several nieces, nephews, other relatives and a host of friends.
A graveside service was held Monday morning, June 16, 2025 at Mt. Olive Cemetery with Rev. Dalton Grovenstein, Rev. Joey Taylor and Rev. Leon Guest officiating.
Honorary pallbearers will be James Lewis, Evan Lewis, Eli Bagley, John Dowler and Chris Butler.
Arrangements were with Frye Funeral Home, Nahunta.
