Betty Hood, 89, of Alma, passed away Sunday, June 15, 2025, at Hospice Satilla Hospice House in Waycross, after an extended illness.
She was born July 21, 1935 in Bacon County to the late Frank Nipper and Dorothy Mae Harris Nipper. She was retired from Oxford Sewing Factory after many years as a seamstress. She loved baking pies and cakes, traveling and spending time with her family. She and her longtime companion of 40 years, Carl, took many trips to Lochloosa, FL, fishing. While Carl was fishing Betty would read a paperback love story. She also loved watching The Virginian and Gunsmoke.

In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband Dean Hood and longtime companion, James Carl Griffin Sr.; sons, Johnny Medders and Jack Medders; daughter, Ann Medders; sisters, Dorothy Morrison, Gloria Nipper, Patsy Ruis, Shirley Chancey, Illa Jean Taylor and Ann Bazemore and brothers, Franklin Nipper and Bobby Nipper.
Survivors include her son, Timmy Hood; daughter, Joyce Medders; brothers, James Nipper and Ronnie Nipper (Cheryl) and special friends, Terry and Tammy Griffin, Neal and Mary Jane Griffin, Allen and Laura Owens and Laura and Corina Lozada.
A celebration of life will be held at a later date.
