Campbell “I’m extremely proud of my detectives and deputies for their handling of this case — especially Det. Dakota York for his tireless efforts on this case,” Sheriff Carl James said. “The CID (Crime Investigation Division) and Patrol team did a fine job, and it’s because of their efforts that two people are charged with regards to a violent incident and are now safely behind bars.

“I hope this discourages others from this type of crime because any incidents of this sort that happen out in the county will be worked as hard as we can. As I said before, this shooting could’ve very easily ended the lives of at least three young women.”
Patrol deputies responded about 1:23 a.m. June 1 to a call regarding a shooting incident at a E. Washington Avenue.
After arriving at the residence, it was determined numerous people had been attending a house party, and, as some people were leaving, a shooting happened about 100 yards west of the house. The deputies found no shooting victims at or near the residence where the gathering occurred, but did find multiple shell casings in the road as well as other evidence.
Deputies then went to another residence where three victims of the shooting had gone immediately after the incident. Three young women were found to have non-life-threatening gunshot wounds.
Two of the women were young adults, but the third female was a 14-year-old juvenile. Two of those wounded were flown to out-of-area hospitals from Memorial Satilla Health for further treatment, the release said.
None of the victims were identified by authorities.
