WCSO arrest Landrum for Sunday murder

A former Ware County man has been been arrested and charged with murder in connection to a shooting death Sunday night, June 8 in rural Ware County, the Ware County Sheriff’s Office said Monday.

Clinton Matt “Hank’ Landrum, 40, formerly of the 37oo block of Lovett Road, was arrested early Monday afternoon by Wayne County Sheriff’s Office personnel and returned to Ware County, WCSO Major Neil Skerratt said. Landrum was expected to have a first appearance Tuesday, June 10 before a Ware County Magistrate on the charge in the death of Henry Joseph McClellan, 52, of the 1300 block of Manor Millwood Road North.

Skerratt said other charges could be pending against Landrum.

“We would like to extend our thanks to the Wayne County Sheriff’s Office and other law enforcement officers who assisted in the arrest of Landrum,” Ware County Sheriff Carl James said.

Landrum, a 5-foot-6 and 170-pound white male, had been at large and considered armed and dangerous since the shooting, authorities said.

WCSO Patrol Units were dispatched at 10:31 p.m., Sunday to the 1300 block of Manor Millwood Road N. for a report of a person shot at a residence, Skerratt said. Deputy Corey Sparks and Sgt. Robert Weekley arrived to find McClellan unresponsive with no sign of a suspect in the shooting.

Ware County Coroner David Jordan arrived and pronounced the victim dead at the scene shortly thereafter, authorities said.

Detectives arrived to secure and process the scene. It was determined probable cause existed to seek an arrest warrant for Landrum on the charge of murder.

A WCSO Detective was granted an arrest warrant against Landrum for murder before a Ware County Magistrate.
