Emmanuel’s International Cathedral of the Holy Spirit, 600 Genoa Street, will honor four 2025 graduates from its congregation during the annual Juanita P. James Education & Scholarship service at 11 a.m. Sunday, June 15.
The special service by EIC’s Christian Education Department will recognize Pierce County’s Breana James along with Ware County’s Lavionce Johnson, Jaylen McGauley, and Destiny Neloms.
The $500 Juanita Paulk James Scholarship also will be given to a graduate who’s met all the requirements. Eligible graduates who’ll pursue higher education were invited to apply for the grant.
Applicants submitted a 1,000-word essay and had to meet additional criteria. Essays were evaluated by a panel of college graduates and classroom teachers.
James, the late mother of Bishop Dr. Michael-Angelo James, EIC Pastor and Waycross Mayor, was a highly respected educator who worked in several school systems for more than 40 years.
Dr. James will deliver the message for the special program.
