The Pierce Co. 4-H SAFE Program honored all shooting athletes May 2 at the Pierce Co. 4-H SAFE Awards Banquet. Twenty shooting athletes were honored in the presence of their families, the coaching staff, Pierce Co. 4-H Agents, and Pierce County Sheriff Ramsey Bennett.
All athletes in the BB, Air Rifle, and Air Pistol shooting disciplines were awarded a trophy for the hard work and participation for the season along with season statistic sheets. BB athletes were all awarded Daisy Shooting Education Program Certificates of Completion for testing out of the six week gun safety course mandated by the SAFE program.
Three BB Team members (JerriBeth Mullis, Austin Brymer, and Devan Turner) were pinned for perfect targets this season. Allie Herrin and JerriBeth Mullis were both given certificates for being inducted into the 480 Club.
The Pierce Co. 4-H SAFE BB Most Improved Award went to Mikah Deal for showing the most improved shooting and testing scores of the season as a first-year shooting athlete. Mikah’s parents are Matt and Nicole Deal. Mikah was coached by SAFE volunteer Jodi Mullis.
The Pierce Co. 4-H SAFE BB Rookie of the Year Award went to Riley Sexton for having the best average competition score of the season amongst the first-year shooting athletes. Riley’s parents are Chad and Shanna Sexton. Riley was coached by his father. This award was sponsored by Coastal Pecan & Citrus LLC.
The Pierce Co. 4-H SAFE BB Testing Award went to Gad DePratter for having the most consistent practice and shooting test scores. Gad’s parents are Wren and Jennie DePratter. Gad was coached by his mother. This award was selected by the head coach and sponsored by Magnolia’s Charm LLC.
The 2025 Pierce Co. 4-H SAFE BB Coach’s Award went to Austin Brymer for showing the most positive inf luence, leadership skills and having an impactful performance this season. Austin’s parents are William and Ashleigh Brymer. Austin was coached by his father. This award is voted on by certified coaching staff.
The 2025 Pierce Co. 4-H SAFE BB Top Gun of the Year Award went to Allie Herrin for having the best average competition score of the season. Allie’s parents are Adam and Miranda Herrin. Allie is coached by her father. This award was sponsored by Pierce County Sheriff Ramsey Bennett.
The 2025 Pierce Co. 4-H SAFE BB Most Valuable Shooter Award went to Allie Herrin. This award was voted on by teammates.
The 2025 Pierce Co. 4-H SAFE Air Rifle Coach’s Award went to Aleeah Eason for showing the most positive influence, leadership skills and having an impactful performance this season. Aleeah’s parents are Casey and Brandi Caswell. This award is voted on by certified coaching staff.
The 2025 Pierce Co. 4-H SAFE Air Rifle Top Gun of the Year Award went to JerriBeth Mullis for having the best average competition score of the season. Jerri-Beth’s parents are Rebecca Mullis and Tommy Cooper. This award is sponsored by Pierce County Sheriff Ramsey Bennett.
The 2025 Pierce Co. 4-H SAFE Air Rifle Most Valuable Shooter Award went to JerriBeth Mullis. This award was voted on by teammates.
The 2025 Pierce Co. 4-H SAFE RED Award went to Eli Locklear for being a bb and air rifle shooting athlete who was always ready, eager, and determined to perform at shooting matches. This award was voted on by athletes, coaches, 4-H Agents and shooting parents, and was given to the athlete they considered the “backbone” of the SAFE program.
BB and Air Rifle State Champion Team members and state placements were recognized along with Nat ional’s team members.
The 2025 Pierce 4-H SAFE Program was led by Head Coach Rebecca Mullis. She was assisted by Coach Tommy Cooper, Coach Kayla Brigmond, Coach Casey Caswell, Coach Adam Herrin, and Coach Miranda Herrin. The coaching staff was recognized by Pierce County 4-H Agents Billie King and Carrie Carver at the end of the ceremony.

The 2026 Pierce County 4-H SAFE Shooting Season will start with orientation in October 2025 and disciplines are offered to grades 4-12.
