James and Alyce King Roberson recently celebrated their 66th wedding anniversary with a private family dinner at home. The couple was married at the home of his brother, Billy Stewart (Betty) in Waycross May 15, 1959, but the couple made their own home in Pierce County.
From that union, the Robersons were blessed with four children: E.L Roberson (Sheila), Jimmie Rae Roberts (Robbie), Danny Roberson (Karen) and Mary Georgette Roberson. Then came six grandchildren: Philip Roberson (Tanya), Payton Roberson, Drew Thigpen, Justin Roberts (Jamie), Raymond Roberts and Ansleigh Godwin (Dusty). Now, they also have seven great-grandchildren: Mason Roberson (Molly), Madox Roberson, Maylee Roberson, Mia Roberts, Leila Ruth Roberts, Liza Rae Roberts and Dawson Godwin.
The couple both retired several years ago from their business of over 40 years, Roberson’s Abattoir and Retail Market. They also farmed and raised cattle for many years, along with numerous other business adventurers.
The Robersons are members of South Gate Baptist Church, where James has served as a deacon for many years.
