Nahunta council commended for good work

Dates, events announced for week-long downtown centennial celebration

The Nahunta City Council heard from one of their own commending them on their stellar work around the city at Monday night’s meeting.

Wayne Cox gave his rundown on the City of Nahunta by letting the council know of the outstanding job they have been doing of how they run the town.

“I see what the city is doing as far as public works and the other departments are concerned,” Cox said. “I have no issues.”

Cox also had high praise for the Nahunta Police Department and how efficiently it handled any and all questions. Cox stated everyone in the department has been willing to lend a hand, but if by some chance they cannot, they will return the call as soon as they have necessary information.

The council approved a license application for Pete and Shgai Patel to sell beer and wine at the OM Food Mart.

Police Chief Brad Todd gave the report for the month of May. There were 234 E911 calls, 139 traffic stops, 57 citations issued, 83 warnings issued, 11 incident reports filed, six arrests made and five warrants taken.
