Emmanuel’s International Cathedral of the Holy Spirit, 600 Genoa Street, celebrates its annual Juanita P. James Education & Scholarship service at 11 a.m. Sunday, June 15.
The special service by EIC’s Christian Education Department honors the church’s 2023 graduates. There are four members of the Class of 2025 who will be recognized and celebrated with awards and monetary gifts.
A $500 scholarship also will be given to a graduate who’s met all the requirements in order to receive the Juanita Paulk James Scholarship.
The grant will go to the university the student will attend.
James, the late mother of Bishop Dr. Michael-Angelo James, longtime EIC Pastor and current Waycross Mayor, was a highly respected educator who worked in several school systems for more than 40 years.
Mother James worked in Coffee, Pierce, Atkinson, Ware and Ambrose counties during her educational career.
Dr. James will deliver the message for the special program.
