Onis ‘Buddy’ Patterson Jr.

Onis “Buddy” Patterson Jr., 63, of Blackshear, passed away Friday night, May 23, 2025, at his residence, following a short illness.

Born July 29, 1961, in Jesup, he was a son of the late Onis Patterson Sr. and Lois McCarthy Patterson. He lived most of his life in Pierce County and was a retired farmer.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded Patterson Jr.

in death by a sister, Linda Medsker; brother, Bill Chancey; and three special cousins, Lisa Hilliard, Buck Patterson and Emmett Patterson.

Survivors include his companion, Lynn Suggs, Blackshear; two step-children, Kaylee Buckins (Timmy Caviness), Patterson and Kyle Suggs (wife Micalla), Blackshear; 3 grandchildren, Hadley Caviness, Hagan Caviness and Colten Courson; “mother-in-law”, Marlene Sullivan, Blackshear; brother, Harry Patterson, Alma and several cousins and other relatives.

Graveside funeral services were held at 10 a.m. Friday, May 30, from the Laura Chapel Cemetery.

Shirley Ann Sharpe Rodriguez Shirley Ann Sharpe Rodriguez, 62, of Ocala, FL, passed away Thursday, May 29, 2025, at HCA Florida West Marion Hospital in Ocala.

Born in Jacksonville, FL October 23, 1962, she had lived in Ocala since 1992. She was a 1981 graduate of Blackshear High School. She retired as a secretary for One Source Golf Course but had also farmed. She loved God and working for the Lord. She also dearly loved her family especially her grandchildren. She attended Ephesus Church of God.

She was preceded in death by her father, William Henry Sharpe; her sister, Sheila Marie Whitaker and four brothers, William Edgar Sharpe, David Earl Sharpe, Carroll Sharpe and James Jerome Sharpe.

Survivors include her husband of 31 years, Rodrigo “Rigo” Rodriguez, Ocala; her daughter, Destiny Rodriguez, Ocala; her mother who was also her best friend, Ophelia Jones Sharpe, Mershon; a brother, Reppard Sharpe, Bristol; six grandchildren, Alexis Rosas, Jasmine Rosas, Alberto Rosas, Augustina Placencia, Juliana Rodriguez

Placencia and Valentina Rosas; a great-grandchild, Alizayvia Romero and several nieces, nephews and other relatives.

Funeral services were held at 11 a.m. Tuesday, June 3, from the Pearson-Dial Funeral Home Chapel.

Interment followed in the Bristol Cemetery.

Active pallbearers were her nephews, Keon Cooper, Jerome Sharpe, Andy Roberson, Andrew Roberson, Drew Dixon and Bill Sharpe.

Honorary pallbearers were her nieces, Ann Roberson, Abigail Roberson, Nicole Sharpe, Tammy Sharpe and Cheyenne Dixon.
