A Pierce County man has been arrested on child molestation and exploitation charges in Twiggs County.
Jerry Jason Weathersby, 45, of Blackshear was taken into custody April 22 in Twiggs County. He has been charged with 48 counts including charged with child molestation (one count), enticing a child for indecent purposes (one use of communication facility in commission of a felony (one count), computer child exploitation (21 counts), electronically furnishing obscene material to a minor (15 counts), criminal attempt to commit a felony (one count) and distributing obscene materials (nine counts).
His bond has been denied.
Weathersby has additionally been charged in Pierce County with use of communication facility in the commission of a felony involving controlled substance.
Weathersby has not been charged with any child molestation or exploitation charges locally.
The initial complaint was filed Tuesday, February 18 with the Twiggs County Sheriff’s Office. Twiggs County is located in the Macon metro area.
Investigator Sergeant Dakota Fox responded to a call at a residence in Macon in reference to a report of an adult male messaging a minor (juvenile) in a sexual manner.
According to Investigator Sgt. Fox’s report, the complainant showed him communications between the adult male and minor. He observed inappropriate communications between the two parties and was given the phone as evidence The minor’s parent was aware the phone was collected and consented to the phone being collected and searched.
Charges with warrants started being secured Saturday, April 12 for enticing a child for indecent purposes, distributing obscene materials (9 counts), sexual exploitation of children (10 counts) and electronically furnishing obscene material to a minor (15).
Eleven more warrants were issued Thursday, April 17 for child molestation and sexual exploitation of children (10 counts). Another was issued the day of Weathersby’s arrest, Tuesday, Aprils 22, for criminal attempt to commit a felony.
The last warrant was issued Thursday, April 24 for sexual exploitation of children.
