(The Pierce County Board of Commissioners discussed and/or voted on the following during a called meeting Tuesday, May 20. ) Lights for Tiger Field: Commissioners approved purchasing lighting for four poles at Tiger Field in the amount of $287,980. The lights will be purchased from Musco Lighting LLC. The four lights will cover an area 360’ by 160’. Fourth District Commissioner David Lowman asked ab out adding two poles of additional lighting at the back of the walking track. Chairman Neal Bennett said adding the poles at the walking track will come later. The additional lighting will cost $159,470. The funding for the lighting will come out of the 2014 Recreation special purpose local option sales tax (SPLOST). The lighting is part of overall improvements set for Tiger Field as part of a $343,000 Land and Water Conservation Fund (LWCF) Matching Grant the county received. The county will have to match the grant.
Next meeting: The next regular commission meeting was scheduled for 6 p.m. Tuesday, June 3, at the Southeast Georgia Regional Agriculture Center in Blackshear.
