WAYNESVILLE – Mary Ellen Nichols Broughton, 84 of Waynesville, passed away Saturday evening, May 31, 2025 at Southeast Georgia Health System in Brunswick after an extended illness.
Mrs. Broughton was born in Brunswick to Jesse Nichols and Lula Clark Nichols. She is also preceded in death by her husband, Floyd Thomas Broughton; a daughter, Teresa Broughton; and several siblings.
Mrs. Broughton was a homemaker and of the Baptist faith. She loved cooking, baking, watching gospel shows, the Atlanta Braves and the Georgia Bulldogs.
Survivors include her son and daughter-in-law, Kirk Broughton (Aundrea) of Waynesville; three grandchildren, Brandy Johns, Kayla Broughton and Aaron McKinney; and also several nieces, nephews, other relatives and a host of friends.
A graveside service was held Tuesday morning, June 3, 2025 at Mt. Olive Cemetery with Rev. Darrell Joiner.
Arrangements were with Fry Funeral Home, Nahunta.
