
MOULTRIE – Mrs. Katie Mae Bare, 86, of Moultrie passed away Tuesday, May 20, 2025 at her residence after an extended illness.

Born in Sylvester, Ga., Mrs. Bare’s parents were Morris Clel and Franklin, Sr., and Daisy Lea Scott Dixon. She is also preceded in death by her husband, Howard Thomas Bare, Sr.; two daughters, Tina Smith and Vicki Carver; and a great grandson, Christian Westberry.
Mrs. Bare was a homemaker and a member of Waynesville Baptist Church. She loved spending time with her family, canning, fishing, cooking, playing cards and planting gardens.
Survivors include two sons and daughters-inlaw, Howard Thomas Bare, Jr. (Angel) of Rhine and Michael Thomas Bare (Sherri) of Brunswick; five daughters and a son-inlaw, Helen Johns of Brunswick, Linda Turner of Moultrie, Carol Hornbuckle of Hawkinsville, Jennifer Herrin (Timmy) of Hortense and Courtney Summerville of Newark; 20 grandchildren; many great grandchildren; and also several nieces, nephews, other relatives and a host of friends.
A funeral service was held Saturday morning, May 24, 2025 at the chapel of Frye Funeral Home with Rev. Darrell Joiner officiating.
Burial will follow in Highsmith Cemetery.
Pallbearers were Johnny Wayne Franklin, Buddy Franklin, Dale Franklin, Kelly Bare, Jesse Bare and Wallace “Bubba” Eugene Bare, Jr.
Arrangements were with Frye Funeral Home, Nahunta.
