Taste Of Brantley is Saturday, May 31 NAHUNTA — The Brantley County Chamber is hosting a Taste of Brantley Saturday, May 31.

The 4 p.m.-9 p.m. is being held at the Brantley County Courthouse Square.

There will be vendors, food, a car show, bake off and live music.

Rec Dept. holding bass fishing tourney NAHUNTA — The Brantley County recreation Department is holding a Bass Fishing tournament open to all ages Saturday, May 31.

The entry fee is $20. Check in begins at 8 a.m. Fishing at Lake BCRD is from 8:30 a.m.-11 a.m. Youth must be accompanied by an adult.

The winner will have their fish mounted by Buffalo Creek Taxidermy.

Pleasant Valley VBS runs June 1-June 5 HOBOKEN — Pleasant Valley Baptist Church is holding Vacation Bible School beginning Sunday, June 1.

The five-day “Wonder Junction’ VBS runs through Thursday, June 5 for ages pre-k to adult starting at 6 p.m. until 8:30 p.m.

Dinner will be served each night.

Pleasant Valley Baptist Church is located at 7136 Central Avenue.

Waynesville Baptist VBS starts June 1 WAYNESVILLE — Waynesville Missionary Baptist Church is holding Vacation Bible School beginning with a kickoff Saturday, May 31.

Kickoff Saturday will begin at 11 a.m., with free food and waterslides at the church. Pastor Randy Wainright invites everyone.

VBS starts Sunday, June 1 and runs through Friday, June 6 from 6:15 p.m. until 9 p.m. Dinner will be served nightly. A nursery will also be available for those attending adult class.

BC AFJROTC hosting camp June 2-June 6 CANEY BAY — Brantley County High School is hosting a Air Force JROTC Summer Orientation & Adventure Camp for rising 5tgrade through 12th-grade students.

The camp begins Monday, June 2 and runs through Friday, June 6 from 8 a.m.-3 p.m. It is being held at the BCHS AFJROTC room.

The cost is $40 and includes a t-shirt, field trip and meals.

Activities include markmanship, VR flight simulator, quadcopter flying, model rocketry, sports and games, team building and a field trip.

FCA announces Triatholon/Duathlon The Fellowship of Christian Athletes is hosting a Splash Mash & Dash Triathlon/Duathlon Saturday, June 7 at Laura S. Walker State Park.

Registration for individuals is $85 through Tuesday, May 27. It rises to $95 May 28-June 4, and $110 June 5-June 7.

Team registration is $170 until May 27, $190 May 28, June 4, and $220 June 5-June 7.

The fees do not include a $12 USAT fee for non-USAT members.

Hickox family reunion is Sunday, June 8 HOBOKEN — The annual Hickox family reunion for the descendants of Ernie Hickox, Alzada Shuman Hickox and Allie Oquinn Hickox will be held Sunday, June 8 at Twin Oaks Bluegrass Park, 401 Twin Oaks Drive Hoboken, GA 31542.

The community/meeting room will be open by 11 a.m., and will be available all day. Everyone bring your family, come and enjoy a covered dish meal and don’t forget to bring desserts and drinks.

Snore No More forum set June 17 WAYCROSS — Memorial Satilla Health stages Snore No More, a free community health event, at 5:30 p.m., Tuesday, June 17.

The forum at South Georgia State College, 2001 S. Georgia Parkway, features Dr. George Livermore discussing the dangers of untreated Obstructive Sleep Apnea and its latest treatment options. OSA is linked to stroke, heart attack, and Type 2 diabetes.

Farmer’s market for seniors June 19 WAYCROSS — There will be a senior citizens farmer’s market from 11 a.m. to 4 p.m., Thursday June 19 at Bailey Street Park, 1300 Bailey Street.

Those age 60 or older who meet income requirements are eligible as well as seniors 55-59 living in senior housing meeting the income criteria.
