EATONTON — Pierce County’s 4-H SAFE Air Rifle SAFE Red 1 team captured top honors here at the Georgia 4H State BB Tournament held at the Rock Eagle 4-H Camp.
There were 69 teams and 463 competitors at the April 26 event. Pierce County went on to capture 28 awards.
The Pierce 4-H SAFE Red 1 team recorded a score of 2,363 and 60 center shots. Team members were Aleeah Eason, Gad DePratter, Allie Herrin, Eli Chesser, Eli Locklear, JerriBeth Mullis and Austin Brymer.
Eason placed fourth individually with a 479 score and 18 center shots. She finished fifth in the prone position and second in the kneeling position. Eli Chesser placed 10th individually with a 474 score and 10 center shots. He finished fifth in the standing position.
Allie Herrin placed eighth in the prone position and ninth in the standing position.
The Pierce 4-H SAFE Red 3 team fin-ished 22nd with a 2,252 and 40 center shot team score. Team members included Riley Sexton, Taylor Sexton, Hunter Deal, Case Deal and Dixie Griffis. The Pierce 4-H SAFE Red 2 team finished 42nd with a 2,134 and 15 center shot team score. Team members included Ayden Brymer, Eva King, Mikah Deal, Mason Dixon and Andrew Davis.
Fourteen of 17 shooting athletes made a 100 on their written gun safety test. Those athletes include Mason Dixon, Gad DePratter, Aleeah Eason, Eli Chesser, Allie Herrin, Mikah Deal, Eli Locklear, JerriBeth Mullis, Taylor Sexton, Riley Sexton, Case Deal, Hunter Deal, Dixie Griffis and Eva King.
The Pierce County 4-H SAFE Programs was headed by coach Rebecca Mullis. This was her second season with the program and first season as head coach. She was assisted by Tommy Cooper, Kayla Brigmond, Casey Caswell, Miranda Herrin and Adam Herrin.
The Pierce County 4-H SAFE BB Program is offered to students grades fourth through ninth. If you are interested in participating in the 2026 season, orientation will be held October 2025.
