Board of Elections introduces app

Special to the WJH Ware County Board of Elections and Registration staff members now are just a text message away for citizens.

The board has launched TextMyGov, a new messaging service to enhance communication between the elections office and county voters, Elections Supervisor Carlos Nelson announced last week.

TextMyGov allows voters to access elections information or report issues in real time any time of the day or night, he said.

“The texting service allows voters to ask all types of election-related questions so they can get the information they want at their convenience,” Nelson said.

He said election officials realized pertinent information and announcements aren’t always reaching citizens via print, electronic and social media platforms. Some may have access to all of them, a combination, but others may not have access to any.

“The new service is all about informing voters and making people aware of the voting process,” Nelson said.

To ask a question or report an issue, users can follow these steps:

• To find information and report issues, users can text “HI” to (912) 4060040;

• Users are then prompted to enter keywords such as Vote by Mail, precinct, Early Voting, etc.;

• The system answers or provides a link to the Election Office’s website containing relevant information.

To opt in for Ware County elections notifications, text VOTE WARE to 91896.

“We’re working with TextMyGov to make communication simpler and streamlined for every registered voter so that you can stay up-to-date on important reminders like Voter Registration deadlines, when sample ballots are available, advance voting dates or Election Day,” Nelson said.

He said if you have questions or need more information, call the office at (912) 287-4363 or visit wareelections.com.
