Body of missing man ID’d

A body discovered in a pond near Offerman April 8 has been positively identified, solving a four-month-old missing person’s case.

Brad Crews, 50, has been identified as the person recovered from the pond. Crews was last seen December 22, 2024 and was reported missing shortly after that time.

Deputy Coroner Wesley Howard confirmed Crews’ identity Thursday after positive identification was made by medical examiners using DNA at the Georgia State Crime Lab. The cause of death has still not been determined.

Crews’ body was found in a pond in the area of Doris and Sinclair Roads just west of Offerman.

Sheriff Ramsey Bennett said a utility contractor working in the area noticed what he thought was a body in the pond and reported it to authorities. Law enforcement and emergency personnel responded to the scene and the body was recovered from the pond early Tuesday afternoon, April 8.

Arrangements for Crews are pending and will be with Hart Funeral Home of Blackshear.
