4-H’er Elam is guest of Blackshear Rotary Club

Amiyah Elam, University of Georgia student and lifelong Georgia 4-Her, was guest speaker at the Blackshear Rotary Club’s meeting last week.

Elam, a Waycross native, is involved in UGA’s Student Government Association, Model United Nations Travel Team, Dean William Tate Honor Society and is the newly elected Community Outreach Coordinator for Collegiate 4H. Over the summer, Elam will be serving her second summer as a sports and recreation counselor at Rock Eagle 4-H Center. In the future, Elam would love to start a career in policy and stewardship by opening her own lobbying firm.

Elam told club members about the CARES (Camps Available Resources and Essentials Supply) Project. By upcycling a 1976 Vending Machine found in storage at the Oconee County 4-H office, Elam has created a project that provides essentials to over 4,000 summer campers at no charge to them or their county offices. Donated items can be dropped at the Pierce County 4-H Extension Office.
