The first of two Wawa convenience stores in Waycross will open for business at 8 a.m. Thursday.
The Pennsylvania-based company’s location at 1810 S. Georgia Parkway W. celebrates the event with free T-shirts to the first 100 customers, free coffee, a ribbon-cutting, and a “Hoagies for Heroes” sandwich building competition between the Waycross police and fire departments.
A countdown to the opening begins at 7:45 a.m. with Wawa General Manager Angela Pipitone ticking off the final five minutes before doors open. The ribbon cutting with company mascot “Wally Goose” is at 8:30 a.m., followed by the WPD-WFD competition.
The location will continue offering free coffee through May 25. It also will have a special promotion as part of its “Cravings Made Easy” campaign with $1 hot coffee, $2 iced coffee, and $1 teas and fruit drinks including new specialty flavors of pineapple, watermelon and popping bubbles offers for Wawa rewards members.
Wawa’s other location is in final stages of construction at the intersection of Memorial Boulevard and Brunswick Highway. No timetable has been provided for its opening.
