Robert R. ‘Bobby’ Dean

WAYCROSS — Robert R. Dean, 88 of Waycross, passed away Saturday, May 10, 2025, at Memorial Satilla Health after a brief illness.

Dean was born March 16, 1937 in Waycross to the late James R. and Geneva Cole Dean. He had lived most of his life in Waycross, retiring from

Dean

CSX where he worked as a machinist for 44 years.

He enjoyed gardening, fishing, watching westerns, and finding that perf ect garage sale. Dean was a true southern gentleman with a magic touch that could turn that antique rusty old tiller, John Deere tractor, or fishing reel into a shiny usable masterpiece that anyone could appreciate. Most importantly he enjoyed spending time with his wife of 62 years, Dianne, family and friends, watching his four grandchildren and seven great grandchildren grow and flourish.

He was a man of 47 names. To name a few, Bob, Bobby, Dad, Uncle Bob, Papa, and Daddy Dean. He was a man of strong faith in God and loved seeing friends and family at his church, Second Baptist Church of Waycross.

Survivors include his wife, Dianne White Dean; two sons and their wives, Kevin and Deana Dean, and Randal and Carolyn Dean; grandchildren, Danielle Harbin, Devin Dean, Dillon Dean, and Holly Dean; great grand children, Nolan Harbin, Nora Harbin, Hallie Dean, Barrett Dean, Reagan Dean, Bodie Dean, and Grace Dean; two sisters, Patsy Dean Griffin, and Tanual Dean Guy; brother, James Terry Dean; and a host of nieces, nephews and extended family.

Dean was preceded in death by brother, Benny H. Dean.

A funeral service will be held at 2 p.m. Saturday, May 17 at Second Baptist Church. Burial will follow in Greenlawn Cemetery. The family will begin receiving friends at 1 p.m. at the church.
