BLACKSHEAR — Mrs. Elaine O’Quinn Moody, 79 of Blackshear, passed away Tuesday morning, April 29, 2025 at Mayo Clinic in Jacksonville, Florida following a brief illness.
Born September 13, 1945, in Blackshear, Mrs. Moody was a daughter of Lloyd Russell O’Quinn and Dollie Swindle O’Quinn Morgan. Living most of her life in Pierce County, she was a 1963 graduate of Blackshear High School.
Mrs. Moody worked for 20 years at Atlantic Coast Credit Union in Waycross and retired after 20 years as the office and surgery center administrator for Dr. Sohail Choudhri and Dr. Craig Kubik.
A member of First Baptist Church in Blackshear, she attended the Workers for Christ Sunday School Class, volunteered with the Hands to Work Ministry, was a former Sunday school teacher in the Children’s and Youth Departments, and was a Vacation Bible School volunteer.
Mrs. Moody enjoyed spending time with her family and her grandchildren and always enjoyed a good laugh.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her two brothers and a sister-in-law, Russell and Bobbie O’Quinn and Wayne O’Quinn.
Survivors include her husband of 60 years, Stanley W. Moody of Blackshear; two daughters, Sandy Moody Kicklighter (husband Alvin) and Kelly Moody Kimbrell (friend Richard Blythe), both of Blackshear; grandchildren, Matthew Thornton (wife Laura) of Pine Bush, N.Y., Quinn Kicklighter (wife Jessica) of Blackshear, Sydney Kicklighter Mullinax (husband Austin) of Snellville, Ga., Chance Kimbrell of Blackshear, Duncan Kimbrell of Blackshear, and Jennifer Cason (husband Aubrey) of Blackshear; four great grandchildren, Travis Thornton, Eli Thornton, Stanley Elizabeth Mullinax and Beckett Cason; sister and brother-in-law, Donna and Frank Tanner of Blackshear; sister-inlaw, Helen Moody of Patterson; special friends, Mark and Lisa Lloyd of Blackshear; caregiver, Rhonda Carter of Brantley County; and several close and loving nieces, nephews, great nieces and great nephews.
A memorial service was held Friday afternoon, May 2 in the chapel of Hart Funeral Home.
The family requested members of the First Baptist Church Workers for Christ Sunday School Class, the Hands to Work Ministry, and members of the Blackshear High School Class of 1963 to serve as honorary pallbearers
