A month has passed since a body was discovered near Offerman Tuesday morning, April 8, but there has been no positive identification of the deceased.
Sheriff Ramsey Bennett said early this week the case remains active and efforts to identify to remains are continuing.
Medical examiners with the Georgia Bureau of Investigation’s Crime Lab are handling the investigation.
The body was found in a pond in the area of Doris and Sinclair Roads just west of Offerman.
Bennett said a utility contractor working in the area noticed what he thought was a body in the pond and reported it to authorities.
Law enforcement and emergency personnel responded to the scene and the body was recovered from the pond early Tuesday afternoon, April 8.
The sheriff declined to give any additional information about the case citing the ongoing investigation.
