Peacock Dairy Road Barn destroyed by fire Sunday evenning
Pierce County firefighters responded to a Sunday blaze that completely destroyed a barn on Peacock Dairy Road.

A barn on Peacock Dairy Road in the Cason community was destroyed by fire Sunday afternoon, May 11.

According to Pierce County Fire Chief Chris Todd, fire crews with the Pierce County Volunteer Fire Department were dispatched at 4:13 p.m. Fire personnel arrived on scene nine minutes later and found a barn that was already on the ground. Fire crews started by pulling two attack lines off of Sunset station’s fire engine to cool down a diesel fuel tank and to spray water to protect a nearby structure.

More fire personnel arrived on scene to start removing tin to be able to put out the hidden flames on the barn.

The fire was under control at 5 p.m. Firefighters mopped up hotspots and cleared the scene at 6:17 p.m.

The cause of the fire has not been determined. The barn was a total loss along with equipment stored under the shelter.
