Patterson City Council Highlights

(The Patterson City Council discussed and/or voted on the following items during their monthly meeting Thursday, May 8. ) Sales tax revisions: The council approved a resolution making revisions to the special purpose local option sales tax (SPLOST) distribution amounts.

Department reports: Public works superintendent and fire chief Tyler Stokes reported two new lift stations have been ordered for the water department. Councilmen Chris Mock and David Smith reported a bleach odor and some discoloration in the city’s water. It was noted a pump at the city well was replaced during the month and some testing and adjustment might be needed. Stokes said he would check on both issues. Stokes also reported the fire department responded to 10 calls in the city in April including five fire calls, four medical calls and one traffic call. Police Chief Nick Strickland reported his department responded to eight calls for service during April including six calls for service, one traffic accident, one traffic stop with a citation issued. Strickland reported he had attended chief’s training and was away the first week of the month. He also gave the report for March. The Patterson Police Department responded to 38 calls in March including 19 for service, 18 traffic stops and one traffic accident. Officers issued four citations in the month. City Clerk Laura Kate Dixon had nothing to report.

Next meeting: The next regular monthly meeting will be at 5 p.m. Thursday, June 12. The meeting will be held at Eagle Station.
