Hospice Satilla has chosen Ruth Nance Moody as its Volunteer of the Year for 2025. Moody, who has a Master’s degree in pastoral care and counseling and has worked extensively in social services, ending her career as a clinical therapist. She can be found at the Hospice House where she greets and assists patients and their families and helps staff with various needs. She also provides grief support to the local grief groups provided by Hospice Satilla as well as speaks about grief and other topics to senior centers in the eight-county area served by Hospice Satilla. The daughter of an Air Force couple from Georgia, Moody lived all over Europe while growing up. After the death of her father, she returned to Georgia to help care for her mother, who had Multiple Sclerosis. Moody is the mother of two sons and grandmother of two grandsons. She and her husband, Harmon Moody, attend Sweat Memorial Baptist Church where she teaches Sunday School.
