Griffin-Bell family reunion set May 25 The Griffin-Bell family reunion will be held Sunday, May 25 at the cafeteria of Hoboken Elementary School, 224 Church Street.

Doors open at noon. All those planning to attend should bring a covered dish for the 12:45 meal.

Smyrna Cemetery seeks donations Smyrna Cemetery Association is seeking donations for upkeep of the grounds and church.

Donations may be made to the Smyrna Cemetery Association and mailed to Barbara Norris, 601 Buck Lake Road, Nahunta, 31533.

Free wills clinic to be held May 9 The Okefenokee Black Nurses Association stages a free wills clinic from 11 a.m to 2 p.m., Friday, May 9 at Marantha Seventh-Day Adventist Church, 500 N. Nicholls Street.

Volunteer attorneys from the Georgia Legal Services Program will draft simple wills, financial powers of attorney and advanced directives for healthcare free of charge for qualified applicants.

Satilla Democrats to meet May 10 Satilla Democrats will hold their monthly meeting at 11 a.m., Saturday, May 10 at the Waycross Ware County Public Library Community Room, 401 Lee Avenue.

Stamp Out Hunger food drive May 10 The National Association of Letter Carriers conducts “Stamp Out Hunger,” its annual food drive Saturday, May 10.

Letter carriers will collect non-perishable food items left at mailboxes during deliveries that day. All donations remain in the community in which they’re collected.

WPD Jr. Academy signup underway The Waycross Police Department is accepting applications for this summer’s Junior Police Academy.

The program will be 8 a.m.-5 p.m. Monday-Friday, June 9-13. The program is free for youths ages 8-13.

Applications are available in the front lobby of the police department, 512 Oak Street. The program attracted a record 81 participants last year.

The academy is designed to teach participants about police work while having fun. Lunch is provided each day.

The program ends with a “graduation” for all participants and family followed by a cookout.

Elections Board meets May 13 The Ware County Board of Elections and Registration holds its monthly meeting at 10 a.m., Tuesday, May 13 at the board office, 408 Tebeau Street.

The meeting is open to the public.
