Calvert retires from USPS after 35 years

Special to The Beacon

Faith Calvert was honored last week on her retirement after 35 years of service with the United States Postal Service (USPS).

Calvert was treated to a reception in her honor to mark the occasion.

“I have been so fortunate to have had so many great experiences with the postal service, but these last years here in Brantley County have been the greatest rewards,” said Calvert.

Calvert came to the area in 2020. “I visited Brantley County and decided this is where I wanted to retire,” she said.

She began working as a postal window clerk in Waynesville and shortly afterwards transferred to the Nahunta Post Office. The Hoboken and Hortense post offices are under Nahunta’s supervision and Calvert filled in at all three offices during her five years here.

“It wasn’t long that I realized this area was a small piece of Heaven,” Calvert said. “I loved working in all three of these offices and was blessed to gain so many great friends. Even though I was not born here, it wasn’t long before I was accepted as one of Brantley County’s own.”

Prior to moving to Brantley County, she began her career February 26, 1990 as a mail carrier in Millersville, Md. In 1996, she switched to a postal clerk in Denton, Md., and later worked training new employees and supervisors while there.

Calvert relocated to Oldsmar, Fla., in 2013 and continued to train USPS employees in customer service while there.
