ADEL — Avery Crews posted a round of 84 missing by one shot of advancing as an individual here at the Girls’ Area 1A Division I tournament played at Circlestone Country Club.
Crews shot 39-45-84 Monday, April 28 to trail Worth County low medalist Kailyn Lindsey, who shot 80, and Thomasville’s Adalynn Jones, who shot 83, in the field of 28 girls.
The lowest score of a non-qualifying state finals team earns a spot as an individual player in the championship field.
ACE Charter posted a team score of 174 to win the Area title in the eight-team field. Jeff Davis and Worth County were five strokes back with 179s to claim the final two spots in the Monday, May 19 and Tuesday, May 20 finals.
The three schools will be joined by Area 2’s Vidalia (186), Dodge County (205) and Commerce (206), Area 3’s Bank County (185), Elbert County (195) and Social Circle (198), and Area 4’s Gordon Lee (171), Bremen (191) and Model (194).
The Class A DI tournament will be played at Arrowhead Pointe Golf Course in Elberton and hosted by Elbert County.
Thomasville shot 184, Bleckley County 191, Berrien 193 and Brantley County 239. Northeast-Macon did not post a second score. Fitzgerald sent just one player.
The Lady Herons also received an 81-74-155 from Jayden Chancey, who finished 27th, and n 87-81-168 from Carlie Roberson, who was 28th.
