Gatherings in Blackshear and Offerman for National Day of Prayer

National Day of Prayer attendees in Pierce County were greeted by ample sunshine and cool breezes. Twenty-five people were in attendance for the event at Offerman City Park. The Rev. James Lightsey of Offerman Baptist Church served as emcee and prayers were offered by Jack Tyre, the Rev. Clinton Kearney of Offerman Church of God and the Rev. Greg Carter of Walkerville Baptist Church. Later the same day in Blackshear, a 6 p.m. Day of Prayer event was held before the Pierce County courthouse. Approximately 115 citizens arrived for a mixture of worship music and prayers for the U.S. government, our military, schools, local businesses, churches and last but not least, families. Prayers were offered up by Pastors R.B. Gaskins, Wade NeSmith, Jimmy Thrift, Tony Reynolds, Servando Lopez and Arthur Carter.
