1980s nostalgia act ‘Mixtape’ rocks and rolls Friday at ‘Beats and Eats’ in Blackshear park
Guests at reserved tables and those bringing their own chairs gathered together in Blackshear City Park a little before dusk, awaiting the arrival of spandex-clad band Mixtape.

Throngs of 1980s music fans packed into Blackshear City Park to hear 1980s tribute band Mixtape at the annual Beats and Eats event.

Fair skies and seasonable temperatures greeted the band and crowd as they rocked to the top hits of the 1980s like Journey, Bon Jovi, Toto, Huey Lewis & The News, Van Halen, REO Speedwagon, Mr. Mister, Chicago, Bryan Adams, The Outfield, Tears For Fears, Dire Straits, The Romantics, Poison, Night Ranger, A-ha, Yes, Glass Tiger, Bad English, Don Henley, Peter Gabriel, Loverboy and many more.

Local food trucks were on hand offering concessions.

The event is sponsored annually by the Better Hometown Manager Bethany Strickland.

The City of Blackshear was awarded a Vibrant Communities grant by the Georgia Council for the Arts (GCA) to assist with funding Beats and Eats.
