Pierce County’s tennis teams are headed to the “Final Four” after quarterfinal victories.
The two teams will play Saturday, May 10 in the semifinals with chances to play for a state title in the finals. Action will be held at the Rome Tennis Center located at Berry College.
The Lady Bears, seeded seventh, have won by a combined score of 11-0 against 26th-seed Cook, 10thseed Columbia and 18th-seed Coahulla Creek at home through the first three rounds.
No information was provided on the Lady Bears’ “Elite 8” victory in the quarterfinals.
PCHS awaits the winner of sixth-seed Morgan County and third-seed Columbus in the semifinals. Topseed Appling County and fifth-seed Sonoraville play in the other semifinal pairing Saturday.

Girls’ Soccer
The 11th-seed Lady Bears (11-5), winners in seven of their last eight matches, stretched their winning streak to four games in advancing to the ‘Elite 8’ with a third straight shutout with two coming in the playoffs.
PCHS, a 7-0 winner April 24 over visiting 22nd-seed Westside-Macon, overpowered sixth-seed Thomson 100 Thursday, May 1 in the second round. No information was provided on the Lady Bears’ win.
The Lady Bears traveled Monday, May 5 to Savannah to face third-seed region foe Savannah Arts Academy at 6 p.m. The Lady Panthers own a 2-0 (February 21) home win and a 3-1 (April 3) home win over PCHS.
Boys’ Soccer
Second-seed Tattnall County (12-3) won its 11th straight match doubling up the 15th-seed Bears (12-5) in the second round of the Class AA tournament. PCHS won the regular season region matchup 3-1 February 28 at home.
Tattnall County is hosting seventh-seed Crisp County in the quarterfinals.
