The Clement A. Evans Camp #64 Sons of Confederate Veterans and Frances S. Bartow Chapter 83, United Daughters of the Confederacy held their annual observance of Confederate Memorial Day, Saturday, April 26 at Phoenix Park in downtown Waycross.
Teresa Griffis, of the UDC, welcomed the gathering and Randy Wilkinson offered the invocation in the park that contains the Confederate statue and Civil War-era cannon.
SOV Commander Brantley Thrift gave the salute to the flags.
Hamp Tatum, Lt. Commander and 7th Brigade Commander SCV, read General Stephen D. Lee’s charge before Peter Mullen delivered the program’s keynote address.
Becky Bolden dedicated the laying of the wreath at the statue and the benediction was give by Wilkinson.
Company K of the 26th Georgia Infantry Re-enactors provided a musket salute.
Prior to the start of the program, Tatum presented John Lynn with the SCV Meritorious Service Award and Medal.
