Ware Sheriff’s Report

Felony possession of a schedule 1 drug THC: A Waycross man was arrested and charged with felony possession of a schedule 1 drug THC after being stopped while walking in Central Avenue near its intersection with Lynn Drive.

Richard, aka “Ricky”, Lee Howell, 26, of the 100 block of Hog Creek Road was arrested early Friday April 18 after being found to have THC following his stop in the roadway.

Patrol Deputy Savannah Leslie and Drug Enforcement Det. Sgt. James Cox observed a man walking in the road on Central Avenue about 1:53 a.m. Friday, April 18. Cox recognized the man as Howell, and knew there were active warrants for his arrest.

As Leslie was approaching Howell after stopping, he said he had THC wax on him. After restraining Howell, Leslie located a small box that contained 10 white pills on his person.

Howell was transported to the Ware County Jail by Patrol Deputy James Jacobs where Howell also was arrested on outstanding warrants for misdemeanor battery, and felonies for possession of marijuana more than one ounce (2), possession of a firearm or knife in the commission of a crime.

He remains in the Ware County Jail after bond was denied by a magistrate.

Entering auto, criminal trespass: Patrol Deputy Chase Highsmith took a report at 11:56 a.m. Saturday, April 26 in the 100 block of Cypress Lane for an entering auto sometime between April 19 and April 26.

The victim said someone entered his red, GMC Sierra pickup truck during that time, and missing was a Pioneer-brand CD player/AM-FM radio.

The vehicle’s dash was damaged in accessing the unit. Also reported stolen was a battery from a riding lawnmower that was elsewhere on the property.

Det. Antony Phillips was assigned to follow up.

Entering auto: Deputy Highsmith responded about 3:28 p.m. Tuesday, April 22 to a business in the 2100 block of Brunswick Highway for a report of entering auto.

A representative of the business said that a white male subject entered a Ford Excursion on the premises. Missing was a rechargeable flashlight.

While at the scene, Highsmith reviewed evidence that revealed the incident occurred about 9:58 p.m. April 16. Phillips was assigned to follow up.
