The Waycross Police Department begins accepting applications Thursday, May 1 for this summer’s Junior Police Academy.
The program will be held from 8 a.m. through 5 p.m. Monday-Friday, June 9-13. The program is free for youths ages 8-13.
Applications are available in the front lobby of the police department, 512 Oak Street. The program attracted a record 81 participants last year.
WPD Chief Tommy Cox said the academy is designed to teach participants about police work while having fun. Lunch is provided each day.
The program ends with a “graduation” for all participants and family followed by a cookout.
