Sheffield
WAYCROSS — Mr. Robert Daniel “Danny” Sheffield, 77, passed away Monday, April 21, 2025, at the Hospice House Satilla in Waycross following an extended illness.
He was born in Waycross to the late Lewis Greene Sheffield and Lessie Lenora Hubbard Sheffield. Sheffield was a 1966 graduate of Ware County High School and served in the United States Air Force during the Vietnam War. He was an HVAC technician most of his life, but had most recently been a truck driver for Crete Carrier Corporation. He was also a member of Youmans Chapel Baptist Church.
In addition to his parents, Sheffield was also preceded in death by a daughter, Sheila Johnson; a grandson, Zac Sheffield; a sister, Shirley Crawford; and a brother, Lewis O. Sheffield.
He is survived by his wife, Merita “Lynn” Sheffield of Blackshear; one daughter, April Helms (Chris) of Lincoln, Ala.; three sons, Dan Sheffield (Greta) of McDonough, Ga., Paul Sheffield (Bridget) of Valdosta, and Joshua Strickland (Tori) of Darien, Ga.; 11 grandchildren; multiple great grandchildren; one brother, Benji Sheffield (Patsy) of Hahira, Ga.; and numerous nieces and nephews.
A funeral service was held Thursday, April 24 at Youmans Chapel Baptist Church. Burial followed in Waters Cemetery.
