OHC Folk Festival scheduled May 3
Okefenokee Heritage Center, 1460 N. Augusta Avenue, holds its second annual Okefenokee Folk Festival-Sue Clark Day from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m. Saturday, May 3.
The event is dedicated to showcasing the area’s folk ways and history during the mid-to late-nineteenth century. Proceeds benefit OHC and will aid in the preservation of local artifacts and the upkeep of historic structures.
In addition to the historical presentations, arts, crafts, and food vendors, the monthly WayGreen Local Fare Market also will be on site.
Ware BOE calls meeting for May 5
The Ware County Board of Education holds a called meeting, at noon, Monday, May 5 to discuss personnel and miscellaneous items.

Library trustees set May 1 meeting The Waycross-Ware County Public Library Board of Trustees has postponed its meeting scheduled for next week.
The board now will meet at 4 p.m., Thursday May 1 at the Waycross-Ware County Public Library, 401 Lee Avenue.

Rayford Town Hall covers city paving Waycross City Manager Ulysses “Duke” Rayford will discuss the list of city paving projects during a Town Hall meeting at noon, Thursday, May 1 in Commission Chambers at City Hall.
The forum is open to the public and will be live streamed on the city’s Facebook and YouTube platforms.
Free wills clinic to be held May 9 The Okefenokee Black Nurses Association stages a free wills clinic from 11 a.m to 2 p.m., Friday, May 9 at Marantha Seventh-Day Adventist Church, 500 N. Nicholls Street.
Volunteer attorneys from the Georgia Legal Services Program will draft simple wills, financial powers of attorney and advanced directives for healthcare free of charge for qualified applicants.

Stamp Out Hunger food drive May 10 The National Association of Letter Carriers conducts “Stamp Out Hunger,” its annual food drive Saturday, May 10.
Letter carriers will collect non-perishable food items left at mailboxes during deliveries that day. All donations remain in the community in which they’re collected.
Elections Board meets May 13 The Ware County Board of Elections and Registration holds its monthly meeting at 10 a.m., Tuesday, May 13 at the board office, 408 Tebeau Street.
